From the series I WAS THERE, a series of photographs I took at the club nights I frequented in East London between 2008-2012. On the dance floor, I always found a certain raw freedom; but with freedom, a certain anxiety of watching and being watched. Some moments become a solitary reflection, others a frozen interaction, but also a series of wild seemingly choreographed tableaux. A combination of intention and chance, observation and participation, engagement and distraction, capturing isolation amidst wildness, I WAS THERE is a record of a particular time and place, a dance floor, an energy.
